Taking waste to the transfer site or one of the landfills?All loads must be covered or secured to alleviate loss on the way to the landfill. You may purchase netting from Birch Hills County to ensure that the contents doe not litter the Country Roads. Call the Office at 780-694-3793 to check availability.

PUBLIC NOTICE
Please be advised that the Peoria Landfill site will be permanently closed after April 9, 2009. In its place Wanham Transfer site will be open Wednesday and Thursday of each week.
ENVIRONMENTAL ALTERNATIVES
ALL-PURPOSE CLEANER
½ cup (125 ml) vinegar
¼ cup (60 ml) baking soda
1 gallon (4 liters) hot water
Mix, label and use for general purpose cleaning.
AIR FRESHENERS
Use an open box of baking soda or a dish filled with vinegar.
DRAIN CLEANER
¼ cup (60 ml) baking soda
½ cup (125 ml) vinegar
Pour soda, then vinegar and close drain until fizzing stops. Flush with boiling water.
CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS
Use compost, manure or fish fertilizer to enrich soil.
CHLORINE BLEACH
Use washing soda or non-chlorine bleach.
(NEVER mix chlorine bleach with ammonia - a poisonous chlorine gas forms.)
TUB AND TILE CLEANER
Use baking powder for routine cleaning; a borax and lemon juice paste for tough soap scum.

Tangent and Wanhan sites accept chemical jugs. Jugs must be triple rinsed prior to disposal.

Concrete is not accepted at any Birch Hills County Landfills. - Used oil
Used oil is no longer accepted at any Birch Hills County Landfill sites.
Used oil may be returned to the UFA or your supplier for recycling.
